Shunter is a cultural space in Rotterdam South for club culture, performance, music, visual arts, and spatial design.
A new cultural platform in Rotterdam South
Shunter is an initiative by Sanne Huijsmans, Mark van Gogh (POING), and Onno Lorenz (DOHM). The platform is located in a former NS maintenance hall next to Rotterdam-Zuid station, at 2e Rosestraat 10. Shunter focuses on music, live performances, film screenings, and multidisciplinary art projects. The platform is created together with makers, collectives, and artists from Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and beyond, with the aim of producing work that is relevant, urgent, and experimental.
Multidisciplinary weekenders as the core
The heart of Shunter consists of a series of multidisciplinary weekenders: moments where everything comes together. Each edition unfolds as a complete world, from performances and live concerts to day-and-night programs, indoors and outdoors. Sound, light, body, and architecture form a single whole. In this way, Shunter connects with the city and the world beyond.
