Kaapse Brouwers celebrates 12-year anniversary at new home De Kaai
Kaapse Brouwers will celebrate two events on Friday 16 May: the 12th anniversary of Kaapse Brouwers and the opening of the new brewery. De Kaai is the Rotterdam brewery's new home. There will be international guest breweries, special releases, food and music during the festival.
''This festival is about much more than beer. We celebrate twelve years of building, learning and making friendships. We open a new place in Rotterdam and show that local brewing with impact is the future," says Tsjomme Zijlstra, owner of Kaapse Brouwers.
An impressive group of (inter)national friends have already committed, forming a line-up of leading breweries from home and abroad. A special place at the festival is reserved for The Kernel Brewery from London. When owner Tsjomme Zijlstra worked at The Rake in Borough Market in 2011, he first became acquainted with their beers there. The uncompromising brewery is known for simple beers of exceptional quality and a philosophy where quality of work and life are more important than growth or turnover. This acquaintance led to the creation of Kaapse Brouwers and their vision is still a major inspiration.
In addition to The Kernel Brewery from London, Sleeping Village (NO), Laugar Brewing (ES), Haring (NL), To Øl (DK), La Pirata Brewing (ES), Brouwerij de Kromme, Brussels Beer Project (BE), Walhalla Craft Beer (NL), Norm Brewing (BE), Fermentage (PT) and Queer Brewing (UK) will also be present.

With De Kaapse Kaai, Kaapse Brouwers will not only open a new brewery location, but also a new taproom with terrace on the river Maas this summer. De Kaapse Kaai will be the place where beer production, hospitality, innovation and cooperation come together, a Rotterdam base where local entrepreneurship meets international beer culture.
