Futuristic party music at the first edition of Fiesta Futura in Zuiderpark
The first edition of Fiesta Futura will take place for the first time in Zuiderpark on Sunday 13 September. The programme is an explosion of party music from all corners of the globe, including brass, Balkan, cumbia, electro and more, creating a haven for dancing, socialising and discovery. There will also be a food court and a festive market. Admission is free.
The first five acts on the programme have been announced: Balkan Paradise Orchestra, La Caravane Passe, Tabanka, Muovipussi and De Baron.
The Balkan Paradise Orchestra comprises brass players, woodwind players and percussionists who blend rhythms and melodies from the Iberian Peninsula and the rest of the world. La Caravane Passe presents compositions with a Parisian flair, fuelled by hip-hop and performed in fluent Serbo-Croatian. The Finnish band Muovipussi (plastic bag) incorporates elements from completely different genres. They combine rap, fresh pop and metal into explosive performances, brimming with punk-like energy. De Baron delivers a mix of Sahara rock, folk-inspired songs and hard-hitting punk.
Tabanka are playing a home gig as a Cape Verdean group based in Rotterdam. They bring a fresh and contemporary take on funaná: the cheerful, energetic and festive style of music and dance that was once banned. ·
