Saïd Kinos has designed the 2026 Duvel designer glass

Following in the footsteps of Franky Sticks and Iwan Smit, another Rotterdam-based artist has been commissioned to design this year’s Duvel designer glass. Saïd Kinos brings his distinctive visual language of colour, typography and layered forms – reflecting the dynamism of our times – to the iconic Duvel glass. The new glass will be available in a limited edition from 26 August.

When you order two Duvels at participating pubs and restaurants, you’ll receive the glass free of charge. In Rotterdam, from 31 August, 4-packs of Duvel including a glass will be on sale at the following supermarkets: Jumbo Rotterdam Wijnhaven, Jumbo Rotterdam Hesseplaats, Jumbo Rotterdam Vijf Werelddelen and PLUS Blijdorp. Gall & Gall and Mitra have the Duvel x Said Kinos glass available in a gift pack.

A unique opportunity

Saïd Kinos’s work constantly balances contrasts: between digital and analogue, between legibility and abstraction, between visual clutter and structure. Drawing on his background in graffiti, he combines the spontaneity and energy of the street with the precision of graphic design. For Kinos, the collaboration with Duvel was therefore a special opportunity. “Designing the Designer glass has now become an iconic commission. I find it interesting to translate my two-dimensional visual language into an object and to see how an everyday glass can become such a genuine collector’s item. Duvel gave me complete freedom to let my own work speak for itself in this project.”

When it comes to the glass, he translates his distinctive style into a design that is vibrant, multi-layered and full of movement. Just like Kinos’s design, a Duvel also demands attention: slow down for a moment, look, savour and enjoy the moment.

“In a fast-paced world, this design captures a moment of pause and reflection,” continues Saïd Kinos. “I wanted to play with different layers, colours and shapes that, at first glance, might seem unrelated, but which together form a single whole. Just like people, really. It’s precisely when you pause for a moment and take the time to look that new connections emerge.”

From journalism to art

Saïd Kinos (1988) was born and brought up in Rotterdam. In 2006, he began a degree in Journalism in Utrecht. Ultimately, he opted for a different form of storytelling and continued his studies at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. For Kinos, letters are not merely meant to be read, but above all to be felt, seen and experienced. He plays with the meaning of words, which can constantly change depending on context, association and time. This visual language can now be seen in various places around the world. Kinos has created murals and other works in cities including London, Denver, Los Angeles and Guangzhou, but his work is also visible closer to home. In Rotterdam, his projects include a monumental mural for the Kunsthal. He has also created designs for DENHAM and, more recently, WOEI.

Duvel designer glass

For 16 years now, Duvel has been inviting artists to reinterpret its iconic glass. The glasses have since become much-loved collector’s items for beer and art enthusiasts. With his design, Saïd Kinos joins an impressive line-up of Dutch artists, including Piet Parra, Morrison Schiffmacher, Iwan Smit, Franky Sticks, Hedof and Loes van Delft.
