Botanische Tuin Feijenoord - Afrikaanderwijk

A garden reserve with local plants and world stories.

Botanical garden in the middle of the city

Come visit our unique garden: right in the heart of the city, yet an oasis. You'll find native and exotic plants, original inhabitants and newcomers who feel at home in our climate. Discover our special collection of "Rotterdam Plants": plants that have drifted in and now have a safe haven in our garden. Never seen a Mandrake or a Black-and-Blue Rapunzel? Come visit, and we'll tell you their story.

Biodiversity

We are committed to preserving biodiversity. This is crucial because the city's stony environment offers increasingly less space for plants and insects. Together with other Rotterdam organizations such as the Natural History Museum, Arboretum Trompenburg, Rotterdam Zoo, De Kas City Nursery, Rotterdam Mint, the Nature City Foundation, and the Steensoep Foundation, we have joined forces in the Public Platform for Biodiversity. We want to educate Rotterdam residents—both adults and children—about biodiversity and the urban ecosystem, and why it's important for us humans to live together with plants and animals.
