Strand Nesselande

Nesselande beach is located on the Zevenhuizerplas and close to the Rottemeren recreational area. The beach is a city beach and is over 800 meters long. There is plenty to do, particularly water sports and recreational opportunities. A lifeguard is present during the high season.

An alternative to crowded seaside resorts

The palm trees and the wide beach on the Sicily Boulevard give you the feeling that you are in a fashionable seaside resort in Southern Europe. Nothing could be further from the truth; you are in the municipality of Rotterdam.

The beach in Nesselande is a good alternative to the crowded seaside resorts in the summer. The difference from a sea beach is that there are no dunes, but modern high-rise buildings. On the Siciliëboulevard and Maltaplein, you will find not only eateries and ice cream parlors, but also supermarkets and drugstores. Handy if you’ve forgotten the sunscreen.

In the Zevenhuizerplas, there is a clear separation between the area for swimmers and water sports enthusiasts. This makes windsurfing, sailing, diving, and rowing safe and enjoyable. Outside of the summer months, there is also plenty to do. The shops are open every Sunday. Nesselande is also a beautiful starting point for a bike ride through the adjacent Groene Hart. There is also a lot of modern architecture to see; the neighborhood is full of it.
