Dr. Jazz - Daniel van Duivenbooden

A leading Nazi officer who emerged as an ambassador and protector of jazz during the Second World War. He calls himself Dr. Jazz.

Dr. Jazz pays little attention to Adolf Hitler's jazz ban and allows himself to be photographed in uniform with the famous gipsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, with whom he even holds his hand above his head. He writes newsletters about jazz that are secretly read on the German front.

At the same time, he remains loyal to the same Hitler by fighting for the victory of the Third Reich as an air force officer.

His ability to unite the incompatible fascinates the makers of this performance.

Driven by his personal fascination with jazz and history, theater maker Daniƫl van Duijvenbooden, together with three top (jazz) musicians, brings the world of Dr. Jazz to life with your own lyrics, poetry by Jules Deelder and soundscapes. And with irresistible live jazz music.

Club Duif pays tribute to jazz, which has been a definitive symbol of freedom and rebellion since the Second World War. For good.
