Bar Schiemond now open with a unique terrace

Once it was Café Schiemond, and in recent years Eaux Posse was located at the beautiful spot on the Maas. But now Bar Schiemond can be found at Schiemond 40b, a fantastic location with a unique waterside terrace.

The new owners are paying tribute to Café Schiemond's past with the name. In the old days, dock workers used to take the ferry to work and the place packed before 6.30 in the morning and a drink was knocked back before work.

That cosy informal atmosphere is what Bar Schiemond wants to revive, in a no nonsense environment. Until evening, there will be food and drinks. The menu includes bread from neighbours Aap Noot Brood with butter made from wild-picked ingredients from the region, a ceviche with turnips and radishes, gnocchi with nduja and short rib with parsnips. Cooking is done with the seasons so the menu may sometimes vary a little.

There were several performances during the opening weekend. On King's Day, there will be the Crown Cork Festival with concerts by Dawn Brothers, Heath, Mooon and The Nederbietels.
