Which building wins the Rotterdam Architecture Prize 2024?

This year, 40 projects were submitted for the Rotterdam Architecture Prize. The professional jury, chaired by Maike van Stiphout, selected ten projects that show the quality of Rotterdam's building production in its entirety. The jury paid attention to innovation and focussed on the relationships between the buildings and their surroundings. Votes for the public award can be cast until 29 April via the website but also via the ballot box in seven Rotterdam libraries, including the Central Library. An exhibition featuring all the projects can also be viewed there.

The nominated projects are:

  1. Olympia College Rotterdam
  2. Princess flats
  3. Harbour Quarter
  4. Raw materials station Afrikaanderplein
  5. The Corner Unit
  6. Stairwell
  7. Underground station Strand
  8. The Lobby
  9. Roseknoop
  10. Babel

Versatile city

The jury's selection includes social and other housing, smart renovation, young heritage, care architecture and a metro station. The projects are all nicely spread across the municipality of Rotterdam.

The professional jury will visit the ten selected buildings and will then award two honourable mentions and a winner. All observations and findings will soon be available in the jury report and on the Rotterdam Architecture Prize website. What are important developments in the city, where does Rotterdam's architecture excel and which issues still need more attention?

On Friday 14 June, the jury prize and the public prize will be awarded during Rotterdam Architecture Month. The public vote with the best motivation will win a dinner at the Euromast and the most appealing entrants will also be invited to that festive award ceremony.
