This December, the Markthal transforms into Rotterdam’s Christmas Hall, filled with winter acts, visits from Santa, and festive flavours from around the world.
In December, the Markthal breathes Christmas, and you can feel it throughout the entire hall. Winter acts appear spontaneously among visitors: dancing elves, wintery vocalists, a cheerful brass band, the Christmas Choir, and of course Santa himself, who pops up several times this month for warm encounters and photo moments. Along the way, small December surprises unfold — a candy cane with a smile, a compliment that brightens your day, or a quick caricature as a Christmas keepsake. Extra pop‑up Christmas stalls fill the hall with festive world flavours, from sweet to savoury, making the whole Markthal smell like December. And for those wanting a lasting memory, stop by the souvenir shop for the one and only Markthal Christmas bauble — the symbol of a magical month in Rotterdam’s Christmas Hall!
