Hypnotic duet between life and death: vulnerable, fiery and honest.
What the fuck?! The baby is called Lodewijk and has been sleeping in a glass coffee pot for fifty years. She knows nothing else. The mysterious baby confronts her with a painful memory: twelve years ago she secretly had an abortion. Lodewijk makes her realize: this secret wants to come out. In a black-comic, confrontational stream of words she breaks through her shame, with Lodewijk as her silent opponent.
Theatre maker Sofie Kramer goes in search of hidden desires and ancient demons. She weaves text, music and visual art into a theatrical confession and visual farewell ritual. An exercise in letting go, with questions about mourning and the contradictory entanglement of life and death. With a dark sense of humour and just as much sensitivity, Sofie tackles taboos surrounding sex, death and birth. What does it mean to bring a human being into the world? What kind of world puts babies in coffee pots? “Lodewijk, am I your mother now?”
