BANK15 let eight foodmakers cook on the Grotekerkplein
From 6 June, BANK15 will introduce the PROEFWERK programme on the terrace of the Laurenskerk. For eight weekends, one foodmaker will be given the stage each time: to experiment, put their concept into practice, receive feedback and connect with audiences. Eight makers were geselecteerd from a large group of entrants.
Every Friday to Sunday, a different maker serves his or her signature dish. From Chinese scallion pancakes to Japanese gyudon, from Moroccan to Italian polpette. PROEFWERK is not a catering experiment, but a temporary intervention in public space. Where personal stories form the basis for dishes. Makers from diverse backgrounds, cultures and life paths use their love of food to share something greater. Sometimes out of memory, sometimes as a tribute, sometimes as a first step towards their own future. What unites them is curiosity, guts and the will to make.
BANK15 has been supporting creative makers in food, art, music and culture for years. Jerry Opier, founder of BANK15: "Trial is not just about food, it's about people. About what happens when you share something with another person. A memory, a conversation, an idea. That's where movement starts."
A meaningful place for the city
The Laurenskerk opens its terrace to PROEFWERK. Director Elles van Vegchel: "Food speaks a universal language. Just like culture. We open up our place because we believe in encounters, between people, worlds, ideas. That's what makes a city alive."
In addition to the food truck, city brewery Eurobrouwers will provide a bar and terrace where you can enjoy makerspace with a drink. Owner Kris de Leeuw: "Young makers deserve a place to show who they are. Trial offers that space and audience. We are happy to contribute to that."
