Oscar Ployart's piano playing draws inspiration from the greats of Black American music and his Scandinavian heritage. His goal is to create beautiful, warm, and imaginative music that energizes and offers meaning. He has toured throughout Europe and is currently working on the debut release of his jazz quintet.
Oscar grew up on a farm in rural North Jutland, Denmark, and was always fascinated by music. After falling in love with the irresistible swing and energy of jazz improvisation, he continued his music studies in Sweden and the Netherlands.
His musical heroes include Bud Powell, Keith Jarrett, and Charles Mingus. Oscar lives in Amsterdam and is a sought-after sideman. He's had the privilege of performing with great musicians like Simon Rigter, Gideon Tazelaar, and Mayquel Gonzalez. He's performed at renowned venues such as TivoliVredenburg (Netherlands), Bal Blomet (Paris), The Music Village (Brussels), and Glenn Miller (Stockholm). He's also a member of the successful swing band Roaring Cats.
