Taste herring at a Haring Party
Celebrate the start of herring season 2025 at these places. In Rotterdam the Hollandse Nieuwe can again be consumed festively at several places.
Herring party at De Tuin
Together with Rotterdamse Maatjes - an initiative of fishmonger Ruud den Haan - De Tuin is organising a herring party on 16 June with an important mission: to raise money for the Taai Foundation. With every herring that is gulped, visitors support the fight against cystic fibrosis. "The Herring Party is a party for us every year," says Hendrik van der Wyck, owner of De Tuin. "It is wonderful to see how an ancient Dutch tradition brings people together. You enjoy delicious herring, toast with acquaintances and in the meantime you also contribute to a good cause. That makes this day extra special: for us, for our guests and for the Taai Foundation."
Between the snacks and drinks, we will also reflect on the day's serious goal: raising money for the Taai Foundation, which works to help people with cystic fibrosis. This hereditary disease affects the lungs and digestive system, among other things, with great impact on quality of life, and is unfortunately not yet curable. ''It's nice how a pleasant afternoon like this can really mean something,'' says Christian den Haan of Rotterdam Maatjes. The Taai Foundation does important work and we are happy to contribute. Research, treatments, more attention: every contribution counts. Together with De Tuin and all visitors, we make the Haringparty not only a tasty, but also a valuable moment.
Herring bites at The Garden of the Four Directions
De Schouw
On Wednesday afternoon 18 June, they will serve herrings at De Schouw on Witte de Withstraat during the (Kromme) Haring Party. Because in collaboration with Rotterdam drinks distributor Have a Few, the beers will come, very appropriately, from microbrewery De Kromme Haring.
Stobbe
Stobbe in Kralingen is holding its herring party on Thursday 19 June.
Brasserie Barclay Rotterdam
On Karel Doormanstraat, there will be a herring party at Barclay's on Thursday 19 June. With fresh herring, drinks and music by Jesse van der Wielen.
Melief Bender
On 25 June, there will be a herring party at Melief Bender music by Kees Toets.
Proeflokaal De Pui
On the Oostzeedijk, there will be the annual herring party at De Pui on Thursday 26 June. Musically accompanied by Dave Hinde.
Multi Herring Party
The Groot Handelsgebouw will host a traditional herring cart at Multi Multi on Thursday 26 June. Classic Dutch bitterballen will also be served for non-fish lovers. A sunny drink with friends or colleagues: everyone is welcome.
Herring party at Blij
At Blij, there will be a Herring Party on Thursday 26 June. On the terrace, there will be herrings (with onions, sour or pure) as well as drinks.
Haring Party 010
Led by organiser Jeroen Ballot, the HaringParty 010 will be held on 27 June at Koninklijke Roei & Zeil Vereniging De Maas. This year, the herring party will again have a special meaning. The auction of the first keg of Hollandse Nieuwe 010 will go entirely to Support Casper, the foundation dedicated to innovative pancreatic cancer research.
