Two men at sea. One a grumpy fisherman, the other a race criminal. Together on board a ship, together involved in an illegal job. But while hoisting sports bags full of drugs, an unexpected spark flies.

Tussen de Mazen delves into the world of drug importation where fishing boats and cartels find each other on the waves of the North Sea. Cultural differences between fishing and organised crime, the unpredictable North Sea, cartels and customs; everything forms an obstacle.

Between the Mazes is a theatrical thriller about surviving in a world you don’t understand. How do you stay honest when no one plays by the rules? And how do you maintain your manhood when your head goes crazy for your shipmate? Between the Mazes is Romeo & Julius on the open sea—with drugs, betrayal, and serious industrial accidents.

About the company/creator:

Bruckman Projects is the production core around writing maker Nic Bruckman. The performances are based around true, extreme events. Things we would rather look away from, but which precisely for that reason say something important about today's world. They are an exploration of the dark area between desire and power.

The projects translate major social issues from the inside into interpersonal drama, ranging from the chemical weapons industry to criminality of masculinity and fear of death. The material is generated after an intensive research period, in which Nic enters a completely different life. In this way he builds up an experiential expertise from the subject and gives a voice to a world that normally remains hidden. For Tussen de Mazen he sails for weeks on fishing boats on the North Sea.
