Treasures Festival – Discover Rotterdam’s Hidden Treasures

During the Treasures Festival, Lab Grounds (’s-Gravendijkwal 58b) will transform into a vibrant meeting place full of music, film, workshops, parades and stories. Experience the cultural treasures of four communities with roots in Cabo Verde, Suriname, Curaçao and Brazil – made visible, audible and tangible in one afternoon.

Four Cultures, One Stage

Immerse yourself in podcasts, films, workshops, concerts and parades, with special focus on four traditions: Batuku (Cabo Verde), Angisa (Suriname), Seú (Curaçao) and Capoeira (Brazil). Along the way, explore the stands, taste world flavors and meet Rotterdammers sharing their culture and heritage. Treasures is about discovering and treasuring: celebrating what connects us and cherishing what gives meaning.

Stories for the Future

The stories of these communities form the soul of the city. That is why the podcasts and films created during the festival will be handed over to the Stadsarchief Rotterdam, ensuring they remain part of the city’s collective memory. The festival is organized by Productiehuis SchoneKunsten, in collaboration with the ARTIVES research project at Leiden University and the Stadsarchief.
