Every second Wednesday of the month, the Wijkpaleis on Claes de Vrieslaan is transformed into a cinema. We'll travel the world together to watch a movie in the theme Hometown.
On Wednesday November 12th, we'll be watching The Old Oak. A film set in a run-down mining town in Northern England. The locals can barely support themselves and see their town slowly decaying. When the local pub, The Old Oak, is threatened with closure, the housing of Syrian refugees in the town creates additional unrest. But unlikely friendships bring these different worlds together, with The Old Oak as its shared center. This is a film where hope and trust in the community and each other are slowly rebuilt.
We'll start this Kijkpaleis evening at 8:00 PM. You can pay at the door for €4. The film will be in English with Dutch subtitles. We'll provide the popcorn! The age recommendation for this movie is 12+ years old. If you'd like to join us for dinner at the Wijkpaleis beforehand, you can do so from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM for only €5. Be on time!
