Sonico Quintet
Tango ensemble SONICO pays tribute to the work of Argentine composer Eduardo Rovira at LantarenVenster. Rovira is considered a pioneer of tango nuevo and is often called the 'other Astor Piazzolla'.
Eduardo Rovira
In the 1950s, Eduardo Rovira played a major role in the development of tango nuevo in Buenos Aires. Together with Astor Piazzolla, he pushed the boundaries of traditional tango. Thanks to the versatility of his music, SONICO has performed at jazz, tango, classical music and world music festivals in Latin America and Europe.
SONICO
The Brussels-based quintet SONICO consists of Lysandre Donoso (bandoneon), Stephen Meyer (violin), Alejandro Schwarz (guitar), Ariel Eberstein (double bass) and Ivo De Greef (piano). In 2018, the ensemble released its debut album Eduardo Rovira: La Otra Vanguardia at the Tango Festival BA in Buenos Aires.
