Silence of wonder by the Reformed Mixed Choir Vox Jubilans with the participation of various musicians

Christmas Concert 'Silence of Wonder'

On Boxing Day, Vox Jubilans will, as is tradition, present a Christmas concert at De Doelen concert hall in Rotterdam. We cordially invite you to attend.

Wonder through the Centuries

As a choir, we are humbled and filled with wonder that, despite everything, we are still able to sing of the Gospel and the coming of the Savior. That sense of wonder has resonated for centuries. The prophets longed for the promised Savior. Mary sang of the great things the Lord had done for her. The shepherds knelt in reverence and wonder before the Child in the manger. When they recounted what had been revealed to them, everyone marveled at their words. The Magi saw the star in the sky and followed it, filled with awe at what was revealed to them. Simeon took the Child Jesus in his arms and praised God. Anna, too, gave thanks to the Lord and spoke of the Savior. On the second day of Christmas, we want to reflect on this miracle together with our listeners and sing about the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior.

Program

Before intermission, we will perform Dutch-language songs centered on the theme “Silence of Wonder.” After intermission, we will present a Christmas cantata in English. This cantata tells the Christmas story: from the prophecies of the prophets to their fulfillment in the birth of Christ. The cantata concludes with a hymn of praise to the Messiah.
