Popunie Unplugged #1 Rotterdamse popweek

Rotterdamse popweek

During Rotterdamse Popweek, Popunie and de Doelen bring three bands together for Popunie Unplugged #1: No Screaming At Pigeons, thrilled and Fellatio. In the Eduard Flipse Zaal, post-rock, post-punk, shoegaze and post-hardcore are given an intimate, semi-acoustic form. With a nod to the unplugged sessions of the nineties, the bands trade their usual wall of sound for a stripped-back set. The same intensity, brought back to the essence.

No Screaming At Pigeons makes sensual punk, with screaming vocals and tribal drums as ingredients. The band was previously seen at Roodkapje and WORM, at evenings centered around the Rotterdam punk scene. During Popunie Unplugged, that raw sound gets a different setting: a semi-acoustic set in an intimate venue.

The Rotterdam band thrilled combines shoegaze with influences from grunge and post-hardcore. Beneath the layers of fuzz and heavy drums lie surprising chord changes and contrasts between soft and hard. The band played at Left of the Dial and provided the support act for, among others, Ride and They Are Gutting a Body of Water. In 2026, the EP no one for miles was released.

Fellatio moves between disco, punk and krautrock. The Rotterdam trio couples driving rhythms with a free, exuberant stage approach. The music has both an experimental and a danceable side. After performances at, among others, Left of the Dial and Motel Mozaïque, the band will let you hear what that unique sound sounds like in a stripped-back form during this evening.
