Opus 13 Quartet Haydn, Adès en Brahms
Haydn, Adès and Brahms
With first prizes at the Bordeaux and Wigmore Hall string quartet competitions in 2025 and the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award in 2026, the young Opus 13 Quartet immediately establishes itself strongly on the international map. In this concert, they explore three different moments in the history of the string quartet.
Haydn's String Quartet Op. 77 demonstrates why he is regarded as the founder of the genre: clear in form, playful in character, and full of subtle surprises. With Arcadiana by Thomas Adès, the perspective shifts to a contemporary sound world, in which memory, imagination, and contrast take center stage. Finally, Brahms' First String Quartet presents a deeply felt romantic sound, rich in melody and inner tension. Three voices, one tradition.
