Lise Lou Sore - Echo of Home

Studio Seine presents the solo exhibition 'Echo of Home' with a total installation by Lise Lou Sore.

In Echo of Home, Lise Lou Sore unfolds a monumental installation in which self-portraits on transparent cotton merge with the echo of the landscape in which Sore grew up.

Born in Niger to expat parents, Lise Lou Sore grew up in the warmth of a close-knit community before her family abruptly relocated to the Netherlands. This uprooting and constant adaptation are recurring themes in her work.

Transparent self-portraits float in space, moving with their surroundings and offering a compelling encounter with vulnerability. Echo of Home is an invitation to wander through the inner landscape and reread memories.

The human inner world, with all its varying moods, is a recurring theme in Lise Lou Sore's oeuvre. With her gigantic nude self-portraits, painted in chalk on cheesecloth, Sore depicts the lived experience of extreme emotions. Feelings that are universally recognizable, yet often feel incredibly lonely when experienced.

The exhibition can be visited in Rotterdam West, within walking distance of historic Delfshaven.
