About Kitchen Stories: Verhalen uit Noord

What stories are passed down within your family? And which memories, traditions and experiences tell something about where you come from? During Kitchen Stories: Verhalen uit Noord, Leyla Hepsaydir of Stories of a Street goes in search of the family histories of residents from Rotterdam-Noord. The meetings take place at various locations in Rotterdam-Noord.

Creative workshop

With a cup of coffee or tea, you will talk to each other and work with textiles during a creative workshop. By drawing, writing and embroidering, you will give shape to your stories. The contributions will become part of a collective tablecloth: a growing archive of the memories, knowledge and traditions that live in Rotterdam-Noord. You do not need to have any experience with textiles or creative techniques. Everyone is welcome to join in, participate or just listen.

Festive conclusion

On 20 December, Studio de Bakkerij will present the final result of Kitchen Stories: Verhalen uit Noord. The project will be festively concluded with a dinner. This is a moment to celebrate the collected stories and the collective tablecloth and to come together around everything that has been shared. Kitchen Stories: Verhalen uit Noord is a project by Studio de Bakkerij in collaboration with Leyla Hepsaydir of Stories of a Street. The collected stories will form the basis for a theatre performance in 2027.
