But according to Professor of Psychiatry Jim van Os, psychological suffering is a process: your mind reacts to something at play in your life. This alternative view of psychological suffering prevents you from becoming 'stuck' in a diagnosis, which can sometimes have harmful consequences. Recovery is a learning process. And although medication and therapy are important and can work, there are many more possibilities, such as a support group, a coach, an association, a lifestyle program, or an art therapist.
