EHBO
Improvisation of the highest order: Han Bennink, Ernst Glerum, Benjamin Herman and Oscar Jan Hoogland return with the EHBO kwartet for an afternoon concert that will be absolutely electrifying.
The EHBO kwartet was formed during the Han Bennink Vierdaagse at the Roode Bioscoop in 2025 and subsequently toured various venues, including ours, drawing a full house of fans for top-tier improvisation. A second edition was inevitable: the same musicians, but guaranteed different music. The lineup once again consists of Han Bennink (drums), Ernst Glerum (bass), Benjamin Herman (saxophone), and Oscar Jan Hoogland (piano). Han Bennink, known for collaborations with greats such as Dexter Gordon and Sonny Rollins, and co-founder of the legendary Instant Composers Pool (ICP), forms the core of the quartet together with bassist Ernst Glerum. Saxophonist Benjamin Herman (New Cool Collective plus numerous projects as a bandleader) and pianist Oscar Jan Hoogland, a figurehead of the Amsterdam improv scene, complete the ensemble. Lineup: Ernst Glerum - bass Han Bennink - drums Benjamin Herman - saxophone Oscar Jan Hoogland - piano
