Based on his memoirs *Thuis*, he takes you through fifty years of the Netherlands and asks the question of what it means today to live here, to live together, and to bear responsibility.

In this personal and passionate lecture, Ahmed Aboutaleb intertwines his own life story with larger societal questions regarding migration, citizenship, and connectedness. From his childhood in the Moroccan Rif Mountains to his years as mayor of Rotterdam, he shows how personal choices and societal developments constantly influence each other.

Drawing on themes such as identity, tolerance, and ambition, he explores how to feel at home in a rapidly changing world. What does this demand of individuals, and what of society? The lecture is framed by music and poetry, including the sounds of the Arabic lute.
