TOMBOLA is about a close-knit neighborhood community that is torn apart when the district is to disappear. This is not just any neighborhood. This is a home. A place where people know each other through and through, where traditions matter, and where your neighbors are practically family. But what if saying goodbye is not a choice, but a decision from above?
A large part of the neighborhood has already been demolished. Moving companies are clearing out the last remaining homes. The last remaining residents persist in their struggle to preserve their neighborhood; a losing battle. In this construction pit, memories, loyalty, and new dreams collide. Old residents, a young generation, civil servants, and profiteers cross paths.
At the center of it all stands Aad (played by John Buijsman). He has lived here his entire life and knows the people and their stories like no other. For Aad, leaving is not an option; this neighborhood is his life. What follows is a story full of humor and pain, fighting spirit and tenderness. A performance in which music, acting, and location come together, and in which nothing is fixed except the need to be seen.
