The Anti Yogi Liberation Not Lululemon

After two successful editions of Hindus in the Media, cultural platform DesiYUP presents, commissioned by the National Coordinator against Racism and Discrimination, a new, urgent, and artistically charged edition: The Anti “Yogi”: Liberation Not Lululemon.

On Thursday, May 21, the International Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, DesiYUP once again brings journalists and the Dutch Hindu community together at De Doelen for an evening full of performance, reflection, and sharp conversations. With humor, satire, and a critical eye, The Anti “Yogi” questions the Western image of yoga, spirituality, and wellness culture. What remains of centuries-old Hindu traditions when they are packaged as a lifestyle trend?

How have words like guru, karma, and namaste become detached from their original meaning? And what does that mean for Hindus, for whom these terms are linked to religion, identity, and history?
