Think about desert blues, and all you hear is Tamikrest. Because with torrid guitar riffs, danceable beats and hypnotising vocals, they take you on a sonic journey to the heart of the Sahara. So it’s right about time that one of our favourite bands returns to GROUNDS. And they will do so on May 15 with their brand new album!

What started back in 2006 with two homemade guitars and a passion for Tinariwen’s music quickly turned into a worldwide sensation. Argentina, Canada, Japan or GROUNDS: Tamikrest shines like an oasis in the desert everywhere they go. Inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the Tuaregs, they bring the poetry and language of the Tamasheq to life in a unique blend of traditional desert sounds and modern rock influences.

Their new album will be released on May 15, a raw rock record in which they reveal their reflections on the Sahara and their eternal longing for a free world in a mesmerising way. At live shows, this intensifies into a vibrant burst of energy: like a powerful sandstorm at full speed, Tamikrest blasts its way straight to your heart.
