Roots - Diederik Nomden

Diederik Nomden (1975) has been known in recent years as the lead singer/guitarist/pianist of the Beatles tribute band The Analogues, with whom he sold out venues such as the Amsterdam Ziggo Dome, the Olympia and Salle Pleyel in Paris, and the London Palladium, but he has been active in the Dutch pop scene since the mid-1990s.

In 1998 he won the Grand Prix of the Netherlands with his band Redivider, in the early 00s he played clubs and festivals in the Netherlands and far beyond with the indie bands Johan and Daryll-Ann, and for 7 years he was the keyboard player in Ellen ten Damme's live band, with whom he played at De Parade, Oerol and the New Island Festival in New York, among others.

In addition to his work for others, Nomden has always written and produced his own music. He has released 3 solo albums and a fourth is on its way.

Diederik's songs are characterized by rich melodies and harmonies and warm arrangements in the atmosphere of his examples from the late 60s (including The Beatles) and the Californian Laurel Canyon scene of the early 70s (think Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Jackson Browne). Some of his songs also echo the melancholy of troubadours who died much too early, such as Tim Hardin and Nick Drake.

With this repertoire, here and there interspersed with the most beautiful songs of his examples, Nomden plays his theatre show 'Roots', in which he takes the audience on his quest for the origins of his musical roots.

With a good dose of self-mockery and self-relativism, Nomden explores, among other things, his motives for writing music, the influence of his earliest musical memories on his later work and recurring themes in his lyrics and songs.

In an entertaining and moving program, Diederik will expose his musical soul and do his best to touch the listener deep in the heart with his warm voice and extremely personal lyrics.
