Research Night: Architecture of Justice
How are the spaces in which justice is discussed, negotiated and shaped influenced by architecture, ritual and performance?
And how can artistic practice help us to rethink the systems and institutions with which we shape justice and collective decision-making? During this Research Night, we welcome Lily Abichahine, jurist, researcher and artist. Her interdisciplinary practice focuses on the intersections between international law, performance and civic participation. Her most recent research, Architectures of Justice, is about the spaces and structures in which legal issues are discussed and justice is given shape through decisions and rulings. The research moves between spatial, institutional and performative interpretations of these architectures and looks at the ways in which contracts, procedures, rituals and forms of representation determine who can speak, who is listened to and how collective decisions are reached.
