Nieuwe Instituut

In the Nieuwe Instituut, the Museum for Architecture, Design and Digital Culture presents temporary exhibitions with the theme of innovation as a common thread. In other words: how is our designed world influenced by new technology, new ideas and shifting social priorities.

Characteristic building

Het Nieuwe Instituut is the national institute for architecture, design and digital culture. Located in the Museum Park, with Kunsthal Rotterdam and Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen as direct neighbors, the Nieuwe Instituut has several exhibition spaces, a museum shop, a museum café, a study room and library, an auditorium, educational spaces and a garden.

At the Nieuwe Instituut, visitors of all ages can experience what it is like to look at the world around them as a designer. They realize that everything in their environment is designed. And that they, in the role of designer, can contribute to this. The program teaches them to look at the world in different ways and stimulates a creative and enterprising attitude. A discount rate applies to groups of at least 15 people. Groups can be given a tour by guides (formerly tour guides), who will take you along from their own vision as a musician, dancer or art teacher.

Accessibility

Het Nieuwe Instituut is easily accessible by public transport with the metro and tram 4, 7, 8, 20, 23, 25 (Eendrachtsplein stop). From Rotterdam Central Station it is about a 15-minute walk. The Museumpark parking garage is opposite the building.
