Real Farmer + The Klittens
Real Farmer and The Klittens are bringing post-punk to Rotterdam! Expect an evening full of idiosyncratic sounds, from proto-punk and garage rock to catchy pop songs with dry, percussive guitars. Don't miss this at Rotown!
Although England is often seen as the birthplace of post-punk, you no longer have to look only there for the best variations of the genre. The Netherlands, too, has been giving post-punk a distinctive twist for years and proves that the scene here can effortlessly compete with that of the English-speaking world. On Sunday, December 27, this will become clear once again with a double bill of Real Farmer and The Klittens at Rotown.
Groningen-based Real Farmer takes the traditional 80s post-punk sound and turns it into their own unique whole, with excursions into proto-punk and garage rock. The well-received second album, Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right, was released in May and clearly demonstrates that the band is far from finished exploring their sound.
The Klittens, hailing from The Hague and Amsterdam, are also not afraid to step outside the box. The band is best described as a post-punk band that has suddenly decided to make catchy pop songs. But don't worry: the dry, percussive guitars make a comeback just as easily! The brand-new singles Have a Heart and Taxi are a great example of this.
