Queer & the City #3: Celebrating sexual health, overcoming taboos and safe substance practices.
Queer & the City discusses pleasure, safety and care without shame. This open conversation is for the queer community and is about sexual health, substance use and going out sober.
Fun, safety and care
Sexual freedom requires honest conversations about health, safety and stigma. Preventive measures such as PrEP offer new possibilities, but prejudices about HIV and AIDS still exist. Substance use at (sex) parties also raises questions: what role do substances play in how you experience connection and intimacy?
Going out sober and harm reduction
More and more queer people are looking for places where being sober is taken for granted, or where sex is less central. How do you make room for all these needs? During Queer & the City, health educators and people from the queer community will discuss what a safer and freer future can look like. There is attention for prevention, including PrEP and U=U (undetectable = untransmittable), and ways to limit the risks of substance use. How do you break through shame and shape care, pleasure and safety yourself? Expect conversations and performances, with room for your questions and experiences during the Q&A. The speakers and guests will be announced soon.
