New Store Hair Salon

New Store Hair Salon is back – book a haircut and donate your hair! During Black Achievement Month, get your hair cut in the foyer of the Nieuwe Instituut. All hair types are welcome, provided it is at least 3 cm long. Your hair will be processed into yarn that can be used in all kinds of textiles, a project by Human Material Loop in collaboration with local hairdressers. With New Store, the Nieuwe Instituut looks at the shop of the future in a new way. Can a shop contribute to a healthy planet, instead of using up raw materials and depleting nature? And what could other forms of exchange or sales look like? Book a haircut It doesn't stop at just an idea. About Black Achievement Month Black Achievement Month (BAM) is an annual Dutch event in October that brings the contributions of black Dutch people of African descent to Dutch society to the attention of a wide audience. The goal is to counter racism, discrimination, xenophobia, and intolerance and the message.
