Museumwoningen van de toekomst
To mark the 25th anniversary of Huis Sonneveld, three curators have been invited to discuss the future of museum homes.
This year we are celebrating that Huis Sonneveld, one of the most beautiful residences in the style of the Nieuwe Bouwen, began a new life as a museum house 25 years ago. To mark this anniversary, three curators are guests to talk about the future of museum houses. The opening of Huis Sonneveld in 2001 coincided with a number of other developments surrounding museum houses. For instance, ICOM DEMHIST was founded in 1999 as an international committee for historic house museums, and the Rietveld Schröderhuis became UNESCO Werelderfgoed. During this period, more museum houses opened their doors. Museum houses still capture the imagination. After a quarter of a century, Huis Sonneveld is still a beloved destination for a broad (inter)national public. But how can museum houses remain relevant in the future? In three inspiring conversations, we explore how historic house museums constantly reinvent themselves, add perspectives, and introduce new presentation concepts. Speakers are Natalie Dubois (Curator of Design & Rietveld Schröderhuis), Wyke Sybesma (Curator of Decorative Arts & Living Culture and Huis van Gijn) and Stefanie Korrel (Curator of Collection and Huis Sonneveld of the Nieuwe Instituut.)
