Moving Narrative | Amber Docters van Leeuwen

In "Moving Narrative," Amber Docters van Leeuwen explores the invisible legacy of adoption. An intimate quest for origins and identity, in which music, sound, and story come together to depict connections between generations.

The invisible legacy of adoption

With Moving Narrative, Amber Docters van Leeuwen makes the invisible legacy of adoption palpable. This is a quest for origins, identity, and intergenerational resonance. It began with unexpected contact with her biological father and grew into a story spanning three generations: her father, her daughter Lou, and herself. In this performance, you move along between speaking and silence, between facts and feelings. A daughter seeks her father, a father struggles with distance, and a child asks questions no one dares to ask.

Connection through art, sound, and story

Amber's motivation lies in making visible attempts at connection, however fragile. Not to repair anything, but to give legitimacy to what often remains unsaid. Through music, sound, and story, a trail emerges that can be passed on—to Lou and to others. For her, art is a place where vulnerability is allowed to resonate safely and where new relationships can form.
