Mathias Eick Quartet
He is a true regular at LantarenVenster: we are welcoming the fantastic Norwegian trumpeter Mathias Eick live on our stage for the 7th time. With his trumpet sound, he knows how to deeply touch listeners.
He describes his music himself as ‘lyrical, rhythmic modern jazz, with a strong focus on shared energy’. His warm sound and refined improvisations make him a distinctive voice within jazz. In 2007, during the IAJE jazz conference in New York, Eick was named the greatest international jazz talent. He is currently working on his seventh album, which will be released in the autumn of 2027 by ECM Records. During his concert at LantarenVenster, you will get an exclusive preview of his latest work. The new music builds on Lullaby (2025), an album that harks back to the innocence of childhood and aims to offer comfort to people living with the consequences of war in the Middle East. Eick has previously collaborated with greats such as Chick Corea and Pat Metheny. Tonight he is playing with his regular quartet. Line-up: Mathias Eick – trumpet Kristjan Randalu – piano Trygve Fiske – bass Marrku Ounaskari - drums
