Katavi - WFFR Lokaal

Wildlife Film Festival Rotterdam (WFFR) annually shows the most beautiful and impactful films about nature from home and abroad. With the special program WFFR Lokaal, a selection of films is shown at 21 special locations, spread throughout Rotterdam. In this way, we bring nature closer to everyone!

In the heart of Africa’s Great Rift Valley lies Katavi National Park in western Tanzania. Here, lions, hippos and crocodiles live in a delicate balance – until an extreme drought turns the landscape into a battleground. Hunger, thirst and danger push each species to its limits. While young crocodiles fight to escape from their eggs and lion cubs are threatened by a predatory intruder, the mighty hippos also fight for the last of the water. When the rain finally falls, it means salvation for some – and ruin for others. In Katavi, we see how climate change is putting our world on edge.
