Heleen van den Hombergh: Sapiens Unlimited

Sapiens Unlimited: songs and spoken word about us, Homo sapiens. From hunter to lawyer, clever savannah dweller to soul searcher, and from farmer to bomber. Sapiens Unlimited is a performance spoken in Dutch and sung in English about our earliest history and what we still notice of it in our daily lives today. The inspiration for Heleen's lyrics comes from the books of Yuval Noah Harari, which perhaps allow us to understand our inner selves better than many a psychiatrist or surgeon? Sapiens Unlimited is Heleen's latest work: musically diverse and delightful to listen to, with a mix of jazz/pop/rock (and even a dose of funk and... tango).

Together with Heleen's beautiful voice and music, the team, in collaboration with guitarist Erik Rutjes and keyboardist Marcus Olgers, guarantees an impressive and distinctive concert. "Reminiscent of the best of Joni Mitchell. Intimate and sensitive, but also convincing and powerful," wrote the NRC.
