What do our history of slavery and melting ice caps have in common? The answer is: everything. During colonialism, it revolved around the exploitation of people, animals, countries, seas, and skies. And although slavery has been officially abolished, it lives on in our culture. We treat the earth as a supermarket and give animals fewer rights than cruise ships. Now that the shelves are running empty, we are trying to maintain our lifestyle with technological solutions. But perhaps we still have something to finish: decolonizing skies, waters, animals, and nature.
