De Grote Zomer Hut

This summer, the Kunsthal invites Rotterdam graphic artist Teuntje Fleur to create a playful experience on the stairs of the Auditorium. The result? The Great Summer Hut, an interactive installation about wandering, searching, and finding. A color explosion that stretches from bottom to top across the Auditorium stairs, with 'the hut that has always been there' at its heart.

On the steps of the Auditorium in the Kunsthal, an imaginative landscape unfolds: a forest of colorful sculptures in which visitors are free to wander. As you stroll, you discover dioramas that inspire wonder and felt shapes with which you can build a sculpture for the fantasy forest yourself.

The hut that has always been there

At the center of the fantasy forest stands a large hut that you can enter to read, play together, and unwind. 'The hut that has always been there' finds its origins in the huts Teuntje Fleur built as a child. One of her most vivid memories is creating a world that was momentarily detached from reality: a place where time felt different and where she could draw for hours and disappear into her own imagination. Fantasy, relaxation, and togetherness take center stage in the hut.

Participation

Participation in De Grote Zomer Hut is free upon presentation of a valid admission ticket to the Kunsthal. Youth up to and including 18 years of age have free admission to the Kunsthal.

Accessibility

The Great Summer Hut is located on the steps of the Auditorium and is therefore less accessible to visitors with mobility issues.
