In this Collective Learning in Practice (Clip) open session, Sophie Allerding will introduce LARP (live action role-play) as an artistic medium by sharing examples of her work and introducing some of the LARP design terms and techniques she uses.

This talk is the first in a series of open sessions organized in relation to CLiP #7; the Garage of Prepping Otherwise.

There will be a free public event every month on a Friday, sharing the concepts and practices explored within Melly's Collective Learning in Practice (CLiP) #7 program, curated this year by art-education collective The Garage School.

Look out for our next open sessions on 28.11.25 and 19.12.25

About the speaker

Sophie Allerding (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist interested in how narratives shape reality, who gets to tell them, and who or what is excluded from dominant (hi)stories. Their practice centers on play and speculative storytelling as tools for imagining just and desirable futures. Sophie’s work bridges visual art and social practice, often taking the form of interactive installations, audiovisual works, participatory experiences, and LARPs that invite audiences to step into alternative realities. Sophie's fictional worlds serve as critical tools for reimagining our relationships with each other, with our environment, and with the systems of power that surround us. In doing so, Sophie aims to open space for marginalized ways of knowing while nurturing new forms of connection and care.
