Experimental Compositions

The compositions of Kintopf challenge common categorization by merging dodecaphonic techniques with improvisational interplay. His works are ciphers in themselves. They generate depth through the different layers between compositional skeleton and interpretation, draw meaning from voids and ask for a reorientation of your own playing and listening behavior. Roger Kintopf's Cipher operates on the border between thoughtful structures and intuitive reactions. The compositions do not serve as fixed statements, but are intended to be understood as frameworks for discovery.

The band members

The band consists of Kirke Karja on piano, Felix Hauptmann on synthesizer, Roger Kintopf on bass and Philip Dornbusch on drums. This concert is hosted by Batavier Miran Noh.
