Bombino returns to GROUNDS, and this time he does so with a brand-new album! As a pioneer of the future generation of Tuaregs and a new voice of the Sahel and the Sahara, he transforms an eternal sentiment into music, breathing life into it. His songs about peace and hope, in his signature style that combines traditional Berber rhythms with the energy of rock & roll, take you on an intriguing journey through the rich cultural heritage of his people. His rousing jams exude an atmosphere of resistance and rebellion, while sounding like guitar riffs reminiscent of other African musicians such as Tinariwen and Ali Farka Touré. This is certainly the case on Sahel (2023), Bombino's most personal, powerful, and politically charged album to date. The sonic diversity on this album is a direct reflection of the complex fabric of cultures and people that make up the Sahel region. We are still a little while away from the new album, but it already promises to be a special nomadic experience that will be tighter and more energetic than ever before.
