Blue Heron

In the late nineties, eight-year-old Sasha moves with her Hungarian-Canadian family to idyllic Vancouver Island. Amidst the beautiful nature and sunny beach days, a carefree childhood seems to await her. But behind the front door, unrest is growing. Sasha's older brother Jeremy is struggling with himself, and his increasingly unpredictable behaviour puts the family under severe pressure. While her parents desperately try to get a grip on the situation, Sasha barely understands what is going on. Years later, she looks back on this impactful period and tries to fathom the events of her childhood. A moving and intimate family drama about love, loss, and the way memories shape our view of the past.
