About us
Balten Schalkwijk, with his years of experience behind the bar at various Rotterdam pubs, is no stranger to the Rotterdam hospitality industry. After working in banking and shipping for 20 years, he realized that he misses the hospitality industry enormously and has therefore decided to start a Wildstube for himself.
Balten grew up in Oostvoorne and could always be found in the dunes to enjoy nature. About 10 years ago he started hunting. Balten: “Self-harvested game is much more honest, sustainable and animal-friendly than the meat we eat from the bio-industry.” Balten enjoys hunting with friends and then preparing delicious dishes from the animals he has harvested. With his Indonesian background, he loves good food and entertaining people.
