Joey Ramone

Joey Ramone is an art gallery with a unique vision.

A Dynamic Stage for Contemporary Art

Founded in 2012 by artist Kiki Petratou and collector Hans Bakker, Joey Ramone is a gallery with a unique vision, which sees itself as a 'Half Artist-Run Gallery'. It is committed to an ambitious, multidisciplinary and cross-generational programme, in which national and international artists explore contemporary socio-political, cultural and technological themes through various media. With the expansion in 2016, the gallery has entered a new phase, strengthening the interaction between artists, galleries and the public and creating new forms of exhibition and collaboration.

Connecting and Innovative

In addition to six solo exhibitions per year, Joey Ramone has a side program including group exhibitions, artist conversations, lectures, film screenings, performances and project collaborations. The gallery collaborates with festivals such as the International Film Festival Rotterdam and non-profit spaces such as Roodkapje and WORM, to provide a platform for contemporary art and discourse. The objective is to combine features of a conventional gallery - facilitating the long-term development of artists' careers - with a more substantive and contextual approach to a non-profit initiative.
