DNA Storytellers Café. A place where stories connect and inspire.
A place for stories and community building
The café will initially only be open on request and during special events. In the future, DNA Storytellers aims to be open every day during the week, with programming that will be diverse and offer something for everyone. The café's programming will include various activities, such as daytime education programs for school and college students, with the DNA Storytellers laboratory offering the opportunity to explore and share personal stories.
The café also offers rental options for various events, including performances by spoken word artists, poets and stand-up comedy. With a capacity of up to 60 seated people and 150 standing people, the café promises to become a lively meeting place.
The catering in the café is provided by several local residents, making the café not only a place for stories but also for community building. The café will be open weekly to residents of the neighborhood, with special attention to young people who want to express their creativity through music, theater, dance and other art forms.
DNA Storytellers Café is an initiative of Archell Thompson (founder of DNA Storytellers), Jochem Bus and Dylan Djoenaedi. DNA Storytellers Café was created in collaboration with the Municipality of Rotterdam, Verhalenhuis Belvédère, Theater Walhalla, Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, Erasmus University Rotterdam and various schools, educational institutions and neighborhood organizations.
