Wachten op Marsha
It is 1969. In a colorful New York bar, drag queens and activists fight for their existence. One of them is the iconic Marsha P. Johnson. More than fifty years later, in 2026, this struggle continues. A performance about courage, resistance, and the price of fighting for equal rights.
New York, 1969. In a bar full of color, music, and freedom, drag queens and activists rise up in protest. One of them is the legendary Marsha P. Johnson. It is the beginning of the Stonewall riots, the moment when the queer community worldwide began the fight for equal rights. Now, more than fifty years later, those rights are under pressure once again.
In Waiting for Marsha, a group of activists led by Marvan wants to hijack World Pride 2026 to draw attention to bullying, violence, and discrimination against queer people. Marvan feels increasing pressure from the group not to give in to what is coming their way. Their freedom must be protected. No matter what happens.
